If you need more proof that the once beloved horror franchise is running out of ideas. Check out this quote regarding the new Friday the 13th:

If we’re going to do another Friday the 13th we want to present something audiences haven’t seen before and one of the things they haven’t seen before is Jason in the snow. We just want to bring things they haven’t seen before [...] the [entire] movie will not be set in the snow.

Something different doesn’t always necessarily mean good guys. However, having it take place in a place like say Antarctica does give a great opportunity of having Morgan Freeman narrating. Jason vs. March of the Penguins perhaps?

How to Kill Your Franchise: Wanted 2 With Angelina Jolie? June 16, 2009

Timur Bekmabetov stated that production for the sequel to Wanted is on its way. He had this to say:

In July we will start preparation for the film. I think in the late autumn or winter shooting will be performed. The shooting will take place in America, India and Russia.

Sounds good? It’s not. Because the writers found a way to bring back Angelina Jolie’s character… who shot herself in the head at the end of the movie. Unless McAvoy fights a zombie Jolie, this is going to suck real bad…

Kirsten Dunst is on Board for Spidey 4. June 6, 2009

Dunst is set to play Mary Jane for the upcoming fourth installment of the Spiderman series. Additionally, producer Todd Black had this to say about who the villain might be: 

We’re just coming up with who the villain’s going to be now. We’ll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it’ll be a big part of New York.

While this news all sounds swell, I think I speak for all Marvel fans when I say: Please. Please. Pretty please. Don’t make this suck like the last one. No Saturday Night Fever strut. No musical numbers. No horrible portrayal of a villain. No cheesy narration in the beginning. And Avi Arad, if Sam Raimi doesn’t want to do a certain villain, don’t make him. Let’s try to redeem the bad taste of number three guys.

Teaser Trailer for Sequel to Extremely Unpopular Animated Franchise May 30, 2009

Meh. A trailer to some movie called Toy Story 3 was released on the internet as well as alongside Up. You may or may not have heard of the other two… they apparently changed the animated movie industry and brought computer animation into the mainstream. Nothing special… Anyway, here’s the trailer.

Two Spinoffs Already Announced for Xmen Wolverine. May 7, 2009

Turns out the two post credits endings after the film were worthwhile after all. Fox reports:

We are developing a spin-off with Deadpool. It is one of the two different ‘Easter egg’ scenes after the credits of Wolverine and hints at two different movies that are coming from them. One is the Japan backstory which was announced earlier, the other is about Deadpool. The film, which would be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel, has Ryan Reynolds attached and would be a complete exploration of this unique character — his origins, his emergence as the ‘Merc with the Mouth,’ etc.                                                                                                      

Fox also claims that they are currently looking for writers for both projects. Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Fox are going “back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall” (Thank God).  Fox you have been given the opportunity to redeem the mess of a Deadpool you put in Xmen Origins: Wolverine. Very few film producers have this opportunity, don’t screw it up. For the love of God give us this…
