Don’t Believe The Hype: Potentially Bad New Movie Releases Soundtrack With the Worst Artists Imaginable June 17, 2009

Okay, so Michael Bay movies are usually pretty bad but they are almost always accompanied with great songs. For example, first Transformers: Bad. Goo Goo Dolls song that went with it: Pretty darn good. Pearl Harbor: Horrible. Faith Hill song that went with it: Amazing. But now I guess Michael Bay decided that the licensed music in his films should be as bad as the movies themselves. I guess in theory it makes sense but Nickelback? Linkin Park? HOOBASTANK? This is just embarrassing. To be fair there are a few good artists on here, but that doesn’t nearly repent it for all the misses. And the misses are pretty darn bad. Here’s the setlist:

1. Linkin Park — “New Divide”
2. Green Day — “21 Guns”
3. Cavo — “Let It Go”
4. Taking Back Sunday — “Capital M-E” (New TBS album is fail)
5. The Fray — “Never Say Never”
6. Nickelback — “Burn It To The Ground”
7. The Used — “Burning Down The House”
8. Theory Of A Deadman — “Not Meant To Be”
9. The All-American Rejects — “Real World”
10. Hoobastank — “Don’t Think I Love You”
11. Staind — “This Is It”
12. Avenged Sevenfold — “Almost Easy”

13. Cheap Trick — “Transformers™ The Fallen Remix”

I really don’t get how they can put so much bad artists on one album. Even the worst movies out there have killer soundtracks (heck Twilight had Muse, Iron & Wine, The Black Ghosts, Mutemath and Paramore). In the previous movie there was little to no robots kicking butt, now if the new one does have fighting robots, they’ll be fighting to Nickelback and Avenged Sevenfold…

I can’t win can I?

…On the plus side, a cover of the Transformers theme done by Cheap Trick sounds pretty sweet.
